Equans joins Metropolis!

Equans joins Metropolis! We are delighted to announce that Equans, a world leader in energy and multi-technical services, has placed its trust in us! With 9,600 employees in Belgium, Equans is a key player offering services covering the entire energy management chain, from the operation of power plants to the transmission and management of distribution networks. As part of our collaboration, we were asked to produce the signalling and diversion plans, as well as to prepare the request for authorisation from the Coordination Commission for the high-voltage cable burial site being carried out for Elia. This first phase, located less than 500 m from our office, is nearing completion. We’re starting discussions this week on two other exciting projects! A big well done to our hard-working team for their remarkable work and professionalism, which was praised by our new customer. Stay tuned for updates on this new collaboration!

Two ERDF projects set up by Gate-16!

Last year, our Technology Competence Centre – in charge of developments for the Brussels Mobility (BM) Operations and Transport Department – achieved the feat of putting into production no less than 3 applications to help manage traffic and its influxes (thanks in particular to real-time dispatching) in the urgency required by the 6th reform of the State. Following on from this, the team prepared two major projects in close collaboration with their colleagues at BM: – Centaures’ will be the IT platform of reference for the URCET (Unité Régionale de Contrôle de la Voirie et du Transport – Regional Road and Transport Control Unit) for monitoring vehicles, detecting fraud and imposing penalties (including issuing fines and managing the immediate collection of fines); – The ‘Zinneke Hub’ will become Brussels Mobility’s first intelligent ticket office. It will give citizens 24/7 access to a wide range of administrative services, enabling them to receive information in real time and to initiate and manage files in our 3 national languages. This use of artificial intelligence will enable BM’s agents to devote more time to analysing more complex cases and to provide solid added value to citizens. The rigour and professionalism with which these applications were put together, with the help of our teams, led to €3m in funding from the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund! A big well done to the Brussels Mobility team and senior civil servants involved in these exciting adventures!

Metropolis: immediate take-off

We’re delighted to announce the first commercial success for Metropolis, which confirms the appeal of our new service offering to newcomers! The first customers are arriving, and we’ve just signed a major contract with Bruxelles Energie, a key player in the Brussels energy sector. Bruxelles Energie, which operates the heating network supplied by the Neder-Over-Hembeek incinerator, has chosen Metropolis to facilitate the management of building site permits. This network supplies heat to large-scale infrastructures such as the Dockx shopping centre and the Palais Royal, as well as the local authority’s schools and public buildings. As part of this partnership, Metropolis is taking on a number of key missions, including : – optimising the route of the 3.5 km network, – drawing up the scale plans required to obtain planning permission and site authorisations, – representation to the Brussels authorities. This success is strong testimony to our expertise and our ability to provide comprehensive solutions tailored to the complex needs of our customers. Brussels Energy’s decision to place its trust in us for a project of this scale is a great endorsement of our expertise. We would like to thank all the teams involved for their exceptional work in bringing this collaboration to fruition. This success marks an important milestone in the development of Metropolis, and we look forward to building on this momentum to support new projects and customers.

Mobile apps developped for the regional police

Starting with the 6th reform of the Belgian State in 2014, the Brussels-Capital Region controls certain aspect of mobility on its territory: licenses, exceptional transport, masses in charge, etc. Created with this in mind, the Regional Police of Exploitation and Transport brings together expert officers and agents responsible for enforcing the laws through daily patrols but also through large-scale one-off events. These measures, called mega-controls, allow a shared management of the various stakeholders (Federal Police, SPF Mobility, INAMI, etc.) at several locations simultaneously. Gate-16 has developed a mobile application to encode the different processing steps from the support of vehicles to their return to circulation, through the registration of useful elements (identification data, etc.). The real time exploitation and visualization of all this shared information, on site and remotely, allows end-to-end management of the workflow and knowledge of the evolution of the results. The tools put in place by our Technical Competencies Center aim both to secure mobility in the Brussels Region and to highlight the activities of the Brussels teams-Mobility and its partners to raise awareness among road users on related issues.

Our Officers at Guichet Osiris provide daily assistance to citizens and professionals in their efforts related to road occupations in the Brussels Region, and in the use of the Osiris platform. Since its implementation in February 2021, the Gate-16 Guichet has seen its number of applications increase year by year, reaching in mid-December 2023 the number of 16729 requests processed. Congratulations to them for the support given to all these people!
