The Storage & Backup Engineer is a role that requires a good mix of technical skills and experience in technical support.
You provide technical expertise in storage engineering, backup administration, and operations by joining a team of engineers who manage storage and backup solutions, and ensure proper configuration, availability, performance, capacity, and maintenance in the existing environment. You support in many aspects the day-to-day service operations:
You configure, maintain and serve as primary administrator over a SAN/NAS based storage environment;
You administer and configure Brocade Fibre Channel Directors/Switches;
You create and maintain technical documentation;
You monitor, tune, and troubleshoot IO performance issues;
You make architecture and performance recommendations;
You oversee daily backup activities;
You collaborate with IT staff on storage & backup needs;
You monitor and create backup jobs, and troubleshoot failures;
You automate, administer, manage, run and make reliable processes;
You identify and assess technical issues and risks;
You perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
Competences techniques
You have a technical background of between 2-5 years’ relevant experience;
You have knowledge in:
Large Scale Storage Area Network Systems (e.g. Dell/EMC, NetApp, HDS, etc.);
Fiber Channel switches Cisco and/or Brocade;
server platform (Windows & Linux);
scripting (Perl, Python);
You have experience with:
operating Storage Area Network (SAN), and Network Attached Storage (NAS); as well as migrating/consolidating SAN/NAS;
NFS/CIFS and Block Storage;
network switches, fiber channel and VLAN configuration;
You have used to work in managed service environment;
You have some Data Replication & Snapshot technologies expertise;
Knowledge/experience on CommVault Backup tool & administration is considered as an asset;
