    Description

    As a Development and Software Architect, you will define, validate and support the implementation of strategies and solutions aiming to manage one of the most important software factory in Europe.

    Mission
    • You understand and advocate for customer usability/operability needs and Insure client satisfaction;
    • You formulate a vision for how technology will be utilised within the teams;
    • You develop technical aspects of the strategy for alignment with its business goals;
    • You ensure that the technological resources satisfy the team’s short and long-term objectives;
    • You verify all technological practices adhere to regulatory standards and compliance;
    • You mentor for the rest of the organisation on Development methodology, concepts, policies, and procedures;
    • You identify and implement innovative technologies that yield competitive advantage. Suggesting appropriate new data technologies (CMDB) based on business needs;
    • You play a key role in designing and delivering multiple products while reviewing the strategy design;
    • You support the use of technology profitably and act as a mentor to team members;
    • You participate to the transformation or development of a service based on technical or business requirements;
    • You provide guidance to developers for concerned technological domains;
    • You support the development of a strategic plan for APIs and automation for a variety of solutions/products;
    • You write technical documentation and Service Design Package documentation;
    • You participate in the definition and review of the standards to be used by the development teams;
    • You lead and support global transformation initiatives for the services operated by the customer;
    • You understand the implications and impact that proposed architectural changes will have on the business (to technical and non-technical audiences);
    • You fix bugs and problems;
    • You launch impact assessments for complex changes;
    • You monitor KPIs to assess technological performance;
    • You implement software and deployment architecture design and best practices;
    • You guide teams, report on unit and functional testing;
    • As needed, you engage with Support (L2/L3) and customers to resolve critical field issues as they arise leading to improved resolution time, future product and process improvements;
    • You act as a proxy to ensure development teams have the information needed to make appropriate decisions about the design and development of their features or bug fixing.
    Competences techniques
    • You have a Master in Computer Sciences or equivalent;
    • You have at least 5 years’ technical experience in a similar position;
    • You have experience with:
      • ITSM operations, management and applications;
      • code release and versioning (GIT);
      • code quality, styling;
      • unit and functional testing;
      • CI/CD;
      • Python and/or Perl;
      • HTTP and APIs;
      • Angular/React.
    Competences generales
    • You have strong organisational, analytical and communication skills;
    • You have proven leadership skills;
    • You are able to manage complex technical projects;
    • You are capable to produce concise technical documentation;
    Langues
    • English is mandatory, French is desirable

    You will join the team of +/- 160 professionals in charge of providing the European Commission with managed services for the design, development, hosting, run and support of the EC information systems. These systems encompass all the middleware platforms & databases used by all the General Directorates of the EC : Weblogic / JEE softwares, Tomcat services /Apache FTP, Oracle SOA/BPM services, Oracle DB, MySQL DB, Coldfusion services, Webserver services, BI services (SAP WEBI, SAS, Clickview), GIS services (ESRI), Documentum, IDOL Search services, Windows Hosting services (SQL, Bizztalk, FTP). The scope includes the tools to manage them (JASSPER, monitoring services -Pnet, Xmatters,BMC) as well as the security related operations. Automation and new cloud services are also part of the scope.
